BVM in Madrid!!

Hola!! The 2006 World Badminton Championships are underway in Madrid, Spain and the BVM is right there to cover it. At the moment, the tournament is at the 2nd round of the draw. No major upsets to report, however, 9/16 Wei NG from Hong Kong was defeated by an unseeded player by the name of Taufik Hidayat…you may have heard of him…he’s the defending men’s singles champion who, in his 1rst round win over NG, recorded an amazing 260 km/h backhand smash winner!!! To put into perspective, the average women’s doubles smash is about 22okm/h. Stay tuned as the BVM will have frequent updates on this weeks matches.
